The programme ‘Jump into Train for a Better World’ implemented

The programme ‘Jump into Train for a Better World’ was implemented at the Public library “Fran Galović” Koprivnica, as part of activities within the scope of the project ‘KEEP STEP: Education of Roma children and youth for the sustainable development of the community’, consisting of two parts – cultural and educational activities (creative workshops) and bibliopedagogical activities (educational and fun walks around the Library).

On Monday, 30th September 2019 and on Tuesday, 1st October 2019, the first workshops were held. More than one hundred pupils, from the Elementary School Fran Koncelak Drnje with its four branch schools and the Elementary School ‘Antun Nemčić Gostovinski’ – branch school Reka, participated in the activities. On Monday, 30th September 2019, the acrobatic skills workshop led by multimedia artist Nikolina Manojlović Vračar was attended by the first grade pupils from the branch schools at Torčec, Sigetec and Peteranec, and on Tuesday, 1st October 2019, the storytelling workshop led by writer Sanja Lovrenčić was attended by all the pupils from the first to the fourth grade of branch school Reka. Educational and entertaining walks around the Library were led by librarians Danijela Petrić, Petar Lukačić and Ida Gašpar. The aim of these activities was to introduce the Library in Koprivnica as an interesting and hospitable place that children and teachers from nearby places would be happy to visit, either on their own time, for school purposes or during future visits to Koprivnica.

On Thursday, 17th October 2019 from 12.15 to 14.15 the artist Andreja Živko held a painting workshop for lower grade pupils from Drnje and Hlebine. On Friday, 18th October 2019, the robotics workshop was held by librarians from the children’s department Danijela Petrić and Ida Gašpar for fourth grade pupils from the branch schools at Torčec, Peteranec, Sigetec and Hlebine.

On Monday, 21st October 2019, Ines Turk held a dance workshop for about 50 second-grade and third-grade pupils from the schools at Torčec, Drnje, Sigetec and Peteranac. Kristina Bunić Lovrek held a music workshop on Tuesday, 22nd October 2019, for about 50 second grade pupils from the schools at Hlebine, Sigetec, Drnje and Peteranec.

While a part of the pupils was participating at the workshops, the other part went for educational and entertaining walks through the Library led by the librarians of the Public Library “Fran Galović” Koprivnica.

The Lead Beneficiary of the project ‘KEEP STEP: Education of Roma children and youth for the sustainable development of the community’ (http://odrzi-korak.com/?lang=en  is the Roma Association Step by Step (Udruga Roma Korak po Korak: http://localhost/korakpokorak/  from Koprivnica, and the Public Library “Fran Galović” Koprivnica is one of the Beneficiaries, along with Koprivnica-Križevci County, Elementary School ” Antun Nemcic Gostovinski ” Koprivnica, Elementary School Fran Koncelak Drnje and Open Academy Step by Step (Pučko otvoreno učilište Korak po korak). The project has been co-financed by the Croatian Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs, through the Swiss-Croatian Cooperation Programme. The aim of the project is to improve educational opportunities for Roma children and youth, and to provide them with opportunities for quality education and social inclusion in Koprivnica-Križevci County.
